Living in the Montpellier area is very good for a painter: indeed, the region is very sunny and the light strong and beautiful. I think that after I moved to the South of France, I opened my eyes and started to look at life, people and simple things in a slightly different way. Before, I was a very busy biologist and all my energies were drawn into the highly competitive world of scientific research. Nevertheless, even then, deep inside me, the desire of painting was slowly growing and little by little it has taken over my entire life. I am sure that the decision to leave behind biology to focus completely on art is the result of a change in my way of thinking, in the way I use my eyes and my hands. Painting has been my other real passion besides biology, but it was kept silent for a long time. Moving to the South of France helped me finding the strength for pursuing it in a very serious way.
Why painting? To me, painting is a language in which colors take the place of words. Like for a book, a painting can be “read” by everybody, but the emotions conveyed by the work will be very personal, depending on each person’s life journey. As a consequence, in front of a painting we all have different opinions, feelings. This is precisely what interests me and what I like so much. However, first of all a painter (like a writer) needs to get the viewer’s attention and long enough to move his/her feelings: technical skills, a curious eye opened to the world, the desire to surprise and to touch people’s feelings, a love for colors and ... time, a lot of time. Voila! The pleasure of painting becomes suddenly "palpable" and I have started writing my own never-ending story!

I  want to stir emotions and curiosity, to share this passion and ... to indulge in this fulfilling activity, which is to me the expression of my way of life. This web site is an extension of this project. It has become a tool to further explore my artistic side, a stimulus to express my new feelings and, possibly, a way to build a social network.
Here you'll find the new layout in which I gathered my latest paintings.
As you will see, it is a mixture of genres, styles, subjects and colors. It is indeed an open book begun a long time ago.....25 years, maybe? Simple drafts at first, then, but only later, colors as well. After several art courses, but much later...
The poems? They could be seen as "legends" that illustrate some of my paintings.
